Simpson Hybrid Sport FHR
Simpson Hybrid Sport FHR
The Simpson Hybrid head and neck restraint, also known as a frontal head restraint (FHR), is a safety device designed to protect drivers in motorsports during head-on collisions. It has been approved by the FIA and is considered an excellent alternative to the original HANS (Head and Neck Support) devices, especially in off-road and rally disciplines.
One of the main benefits of the Simpson Hybrid is that it offers more freedom of movement within the car compared to traditional HANS devices. It is not reliant on the harnesses locking it in position to provide protection during a head-on collision. Instead, the device is secured by straps around the driver's body, allowing for comfortable use both inside and outside the car. This feature is particularly advantageous in enclosed cockpit cars during multi-stage events, as it eliminates the need to remove the device every time the driver removes their helmet.
Hybrid Sport devices are constructed with DuPont carbon polymer, making it sleek, modern, and appealing with defined wings for seatbelt containment.
The Hybrid Sport is designed to fit helmets with HANS posts and features a sliding and multi-tether system that enhances the driver's side-to-side range of movement and field of vision.
For added convenience, Simpson has developed the M61 quick release system as an optional extra. This system can be easily fitted to all helmets that are FIA8858 or SA2010 approved (or any newer safety standard) and have a fitted M6 threaded washer built into the shell. The quick release system allows the wearer to release the restraint by simply pulling the cord on the QR posts attached to the helmet. Check out our Simpson Hybrid QR fittings.
The Simpson Hybrid Sport comes in five sizes (XS, S, M, L, and XL) and the correct size is determined based on the driver's chest measurements. There is also a custom ladies size available, contact us for details of these.
Notably, the Simpson Hybrid Sport has dual certifications, meeting the safety standards of both SFI 38.1 and FIA 8858-2010.
Overall, the Simpson Hybrid Sport offers a high level of safety and freedom of movement for drivers in motorsports, making it a popular choice among racing enthusiasts.
